Interlibrary Loan

If there are materials you need for your research and we don't have it here at the Bennett Library, the librarian can borrow it from another library. It may take a week or so to get it, so be sure to give yourself enough time before your research is due!

We are also a member of Docline which is a database from the National Library of Medicine. If we don't have a nursing or medical journal article that you are looking for in our databases, we can try to borrow it from Docline. The return time is fairly quick, we may receive the article the same day or it may be a few days.

How to start your research

To start your research, you must know what the assignment is asking.

What type of format does the course instructor want? APA, MLA etc.

How many pages should it be?

What types of resources are required ? for example ; books, electronic journals, interview,

Bennett Library has scholarly peer-reviewed database journal articles which means, that the person who wrote the article submits it for review to a panel of experts on the subject, to make certain the information is accurate and up to date. This is the case with Nursing and Medical Journals.

Trade Journal- trade journals are published about certain industry and trade topics. They are usually not peer-reviewed.

Magazine- published periodically usually, a magazine contains subjects in an area of interest for example, Cars, Women's Day, Gardening etc.

Newspapers -Newspapers are considered a primary source of information on news and current events.

Sources for citing your references:

The OWL at Purdue website has a citation machine to help format your references .

Microsoft Word programs have a citation builder.

Ebscohost and Proquest databases also have examples for citing your work.
